Who is Romeo Coffee Roaster?
Stefano Romeo opened his first espresso bar with his brother in Florence in 1987. In 1993 he came to Australia and spent five years with Grinders Coffee. He watched Melbourne's coffee scene grow around him, then returned to Italy to reunite with his brother. In 2001 he returned to Melbourne and opened the city café Centro Espresso. Two years later he moved to North Balwyn to focus on roasting and serving coffee. Today Romeo Coffee roasts in Bayswater, Victoria, with an espresso bar at the roastery. The blends draw on beans from Yemen, Ethiopia, East Timor, Nicaragua, Kenya, India and Guatemala. The aim is full flavour and strong tones, consistent every time. Or as the roaster puts it: "not too fast, not too slow, 'just-a right', like Nonna's Sunday sauce."
