About Proud Mary
In 2009, husband and wife Nolan and Shari Hirte started Proud Mary in Melbourne. From the start they sourced coffee direct from origin, believing the real heroes are the coffee farmers. That conviction still runs the business: it pays producers above market and builds long relationships at the farm level. Today Proud Mary roasts across Melbourne and Portland, with a café in each city. The coffee has range — Mild, Curious, Wild and Deluxe, plus single-origin and decaf. There's specialty instant, tea, chocolate and brewing gear too. The style mixes Melbourne's coffee culture with Portland's adventurous taste buds: refined, but happy to experiment.
