About Just Planet

In 2008, students Lee and Norman Palumbo saw a performance about child slavery in the chocolate industry. It changed their plans. They began selling Fairtrade coffee, chocolate and jewellery to raise funds, then built Just Planet into a Fairtrade store. Today the family-owned roaster works out of Sunbury, Victoria. In 2010 it became the suburb's first café to roast its own coffee. The beans are certified organic and Fairtrade, sourced from Nicaragua, Mexico, Timor-Leste, Colombia and Ethiopia. For 15 years the focus has stayed the same: supporting whole communities, not just single farms. Sales now back over 16 programmes across 12 countries.
