Who is Clandestino Coffee?
The story starts in the 1970s, in a cockpit. Perry was a 17-year-old pilot in Papua New Guinea, flying in and out of remote jungle airstrips. Some of his cargo was coffee. Up in the Highlands, locals squeezed lime into black coffee to balance its deep body. Perry took up the habit. During the airline strikes of the '80s, he bought a café on Hastings Street in Noosa. Years later, his son Jaxon watched him squeeze lime into his long black. “This is what we used to do in New Guinea,” he’d say. The roastery opened in 2011. Today Clandestino roasts in Noosaville on the Sunshine Coast. Every origin is roasted individually before blending, including the organic house blend, Magneto.
