About Tattooed Sailor

Oliver James started making coffee at age nine, in his father's restaurant. He never stopped. A 2015 coffee trip to Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, pushed him to start roasting himself. Meeting farmers and exporters deepened his search for the most delicious coffee. Today he roasts in Bungalow, Cairns, alongside co-founder Ian Chill, a Navy veteran of 23 years. Together they run Tattooed Sailor as a roastery, café and coffee school. They look for sustainable and ethical green beans wherever possible. The Coffee Post named them one of the best coffee roasters in Brisbane and Queensland. Single-origin, specialty, and grounded in how it is sourced.
