Who is Primal Coffee Roasters?
Primal Coffee Roasters started with a curious founder and a roaster made from a bread maker. Founder Dan was drawn to coffee roasters worldwide. He learned from a community that "generously shared their expertise". Then he built his very first roaster in Fremantle, Western Australia, roasting 600 grams at a time. More than a few batches got charred before he found his rhythm. Next came a 5-kilogram Roastmax drum roaster. Today Primal roasts in Mackay, Queensland, on a 15-kilogram roaster. That's just over 500 kilograms of coffee a week. Primal says it was Mackay's first coffee roasting business. The café opened in 2020, in an old insurance broker's office. A team of 11 now supplies 45 customers. Sourcing leans organic and fair trade, packed in eco-friendly packaging.
