Who is Jaques Coffee?

Nat and Linda Jaques arrived in Far North Queensland in 1979, with farming experience from East Africa. Nat grew up on a coffee farm in Tanzania. Linda was raised in a tea-growing family in Kenya. Their sons Jason and Robert grew up helping rebuild the plantation. In 1985, Nat developed Coffee Shuttle One, a fully self-contained mechanical coffee harvester. Today Jaques Coffee is based in Mareeba, Far North Queensland, where it grows, mills and roasts its own Arabica. The family story now spans four generations and about 85,000 trees. The idea is still direct: "grow the coffee here and stand behind what leaves the gate." Cherries go from the field to the estate's own wet mill, then on to drying and roasting, without losing sight of where they began.
