Who is Martin Street Coffee Roasters?
It started with one trip overseas. Simon Daniel and Simon Gracie visited roasteries run as working factories, with cellar door style settings where the public was welcome. The greetings were warm and the conversation friendly. Nothing at home felt like it. So they dedicated their restored 1860s former gold rush building to coffee. Today Martin Street Coffee Roasters roasts in Blackwood, Victoria. The factory and café are open to coffee lovers who want to “experience, explore, talk, sample and purchase.” Simon Daniel is the founder and a master roaster. Simon Gracie, a co-owner, handles strategy and operations. Roasting is small-batch, on fluid-bed air-roasting technology that uses 20% less energy than traditional roasting. Beans come from family growers using sustainable, eco-friendly methods. The promise is simple: smooth coffee, “never, ever bitter.”
