About La Casa Del Caffe
Don and Maureen Kennedy started roasting coffee in Greystanes, western Sydney, in 1984. Don was one of a handful of roasters who helped pioneer espresso drinking in Sydney and beyond. The roastery moved to the family property in Leppington, then outgrew that too and settled in Minto. Forty years on, the first generation is retiring and the second and third are taking the reins. As the family puts it: "We didn't enter the industry because of some great desire to change the coffee world - we were born into it." Today la Casa del Caffe batch roasts daily, a maximum of 60 kg at a time, and dispatches Monday to Friday. The range runs across blends and single origins from PNG, South America, Africa and Asia, with Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade coffees among them. Rainforest Alliance beans have been in their traditional blends since 2004.
