Who is Garage Roasters?
In 2012, the founder, who trained and practised as a medical doctor, bought a very small Taiwanese electric drum roaster and started roasting coffee. The founder is candid about it: “some of those early roasts were truly dire.” The question from the start was “how would a scientist approach this?” Thousands of research roasts followed, changing one variable at a time to maximise flavour quality, consistency and shelf-life. Garage Roasters was founded as a family-owned roastery in 2015, when the founder began sharing coffee with family, friends and work colleagues. A third, larger roaster and the website followed in 2022. Today the blends combine top grade beans that could each stand alone as single origins, and the roastery loves roasting African and Colombian single origins. The coffee has won multiple GoldenBean medals and ships in fully compostable satchels.
