Who is de Lacey Coffee Roasters?

Darren de Lacey learned coffee from the ground up. In his early days he spent time in Papua New Guinea, giving roasting and product development advice. Along the way he visited nurseries, plantations, growers and processors. In Darren's words: "It is very grounding when you witness a bag of coffee cherry being pulped by hand with a large stone in a small stream." Today, de Lacey Coffee Roasters is a family business based in Moonah, Tasmania, celebrating over 30 years in the coffee industry. Darren's wife Sonya was born in the Eastern Highlands of PNG. Son Nick is Head Roaster, and daughter Ellie runs the office and sales. They roast fresh on-site every week, on a Loring Kestrel S35. The family still plays a role with PNG and roasts many of its coffees, alongside other single origins and blends. Subscriptions are now live.
