Who is Cheeky Devil Coffee Roasters?
Clive and Robyn Aver moved to Hobart in 2007 for a tree change. Soon after, they met the Tasmanian devils at Bonorong. Clive reached out to touch one, the way he had seen a keeper do. The devil used all its speed and strength to remind him otherwise. No harm done, but the name stuck. When the Avers started roasting in 2018, they called it Cheeky Devil. Today they roast in small batches in Kingston, Tasmania, every Thursday, and sell at Salamanca Market, Site 124. The beans are single-origin and blends from Brazil, Colombia and Ethiopia, with the roast date printed on every bag. A dollar from every kilo sold goes to the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal, over $15,000 so far. Their line: ethical practices from farm to cup.
