About Blackboard Coffee Roasters
Blackboard Coffee Roasters started in 2013, back when finding a great cup on the Gold Coast felt nearly impossible. Frustrated by the lack of quality local options, they set out to roast their own. They started small: experimenting with beans, building relationships with ethical growers, and sharing what they learned. That stubborn commitment to quality grew into something bigger. Today they roast in small batches in Burleigh Heads on a Loring roaster, supplying over 25 cafés and home baristas. They are 100% Queensland owned, and in 2026 co-owner Danny Andrade was crowned Australian Roasters Champion. The focus has not changed: source from farmers who prioritise sustainability and fairness, roast with precision, and work with people who care about the details. The range spans everyday blends to single-origin nano-lots.
