Who is Antico?
Antico roasts the old way, on purpose. The name is Italian for antique, and the roaster describes its method as "so classical that we call it 'antique'." Beans are slowly roasted using the Italian method, on imported Italian machinery, in Melbourne. Freshness is the reason for roasting locally. The family behind Antico originates from Siracusa in Italy, where they have been merchants for over 30 years. Antico was established in Australia in 2006. The aim is simple: "to introduce Australians to the authentic taste of real Italian coffee." The tagline sums it up: Taste is Everything. Alongside coffee, the range covers chai, Luxuria chocolate and sugar, accessories, and takeaway cups and lids. For businesses, Antico also runs a training school and offers private-label roasting.
