Silverskin started with a popcorn popper. After more than three years abroad, the founders came home to Newcastle in 2008, unable to shake the coffees they'd tasted on the road. The local scene hadn't taken off yet, so they explored Sydney's inner west and began roasting themselves. Popcorn popper first, then a planetary mixer and a heat gun. A true labour of love. Today they roast single origins from Indonesia, El Salvador and Brazil to a medium level, never dark. The aim is big, full flavours and caramelised sugars. Strong coffee that isn't bitter. You'll find them at the farmers market every week with a rotating single-origin selection.
