About Ransom
Kirby and Sarah founded Ransom Coffee Roasters in 2013, bringing specialty roasting to Far North Queensland. Today the roastery sits in Manunda, in Cairns, now led by James Duan. James started at a New Zealand coffee roastery, worked as a barista in Whistler and a roaster in Wellington, then managed coffee sales and venues in Melbourne. The focus is high-altitude, specialty-grade beans, sustainably sourced from eight origins: Colombia, Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Brazil and Honduras. There are four blends and a wide range of single origins to choose from. The medals back it up: seven bronze at the 2019 Golden Bean, eight more in 2024.
