Who is Monlan Coffee?
Monlan Coffee comes from one village. AYAE is a jungle village in the mountains of Northern Chiang Mai, Thailand. Monlan buys directly from the villagers. They receive a premium price for their crop. The beans are honey processed. The sticky mucilage stays on the bean while it dries, rather than being washed off. They dry naturally in the sun on large handmade thatched platforms. The plantations sit between 1200m and 1500m, under a canopy of large shade trees. The villagers tend their crops all year and harvest October to November. Only one crop is picked each year, to reduce the impact on the plants and the need for fertilisers. Monlan's coffee is a single-origin highland Arabica. If you like knowing which village grew your coffee, this one is easy to trace.
