It started in 2005 as an outlet for really great coffee. Australia's café culture was booming, but transparency at the farm was scarce. Mecca wanted to know who grew each lot, what they earned, and why one tasted so different to another. The answers were unclear, so they went and found their own. That work still runs the business. Mecca roasts in Alexandria, Sydney, and travels each year to visit producer partners across Colombia, Honduras, Peru, Kenya and Ethiopia. Sourcing is direct-trade and fair-trade, built on long producer relationships and a single-origin Producer Series.
