Most roasters talk about origin. Kwila Coffee works to change it. Kwila is a small-batch roaster with one mission: decolonising the coffee supply chain through traceability, social and ecological justice, with a regional focus on Papua New Guinea. It roasts on Bundjalung Country in the Northern Rivers. You can find it at two sites — an espresso bar in Surry Hills, and Timbre, a coffee bar and community space in Lismore. The coffee is traceable, spanning blends and single origins. Kwila is also a member and current Vice President of the International Women's Coffee Alliance Australia. If you want coffee with a clear line back to the people who grew it, Kwila is worth a look.
