Who is Kogi Coffee?
This is wild coffee, grown in rainforest rather than on cleared land. It comes from the Kogi people of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia. Around 20,000 Kogi live there today, keeping their ancestral culture and farming practices. Trees grow freely among the natural tropical rainforest. Elders, known as Mamos, guide every step of the process. The rules are simple. Only seeds found in the Sierra Nevada are used, with no new varietals introduced. The Kogi manage production themselves. Kogi Coffee is based in Sydney. The point of selling the coffee is spelled out plainly: to raise awareness of Kogi culture and "the urgent need for all humanity to live more sustainably." If you want to know exactly where your beans come from and how they were grown, this one has a clear answer.
