Who is Josie Coffee?

Josie Coffee roasts in Gateshead, Newcastle NSW, and it is named after a person. Josie was Chris' cousin. She grew up in Newcastle, then moved to Melbourne to be part of the early specialty coffee scene. She was unexpectedly taken from them in February 2015. She was into punk, had a sharp sense of taste and a big circle of mates. Naming the roastery after her made sense. In their words: "no pretence, just good coffee done properly, with a bit of edge and a lot of care." That still drives the work. Josie is primarily a wholesale business, supplying coffee across Australia. Everything is roasted on a US built Loring S15. The focus is seasonal sourcing and "quality over hype". Expect sweet, clean coffees from origins like Ethiopia, Colombia and Kenya.
