About Genovese Coffee
The Genovese family arrived in Australia from Italy in 1950. Alfio Genovese worked for an importer of Italian foods in Sydney, became a partner, and opened its Melbourne branch to roast coffee for Victoria. By the late 60s he wanted coffee closer to the Italian style he knew and loved. So A. Genovese & Sons was established in 1970, in a small factory on Lygon Street, Brunswick. A following built quickly, and in 1975 the business moved to its corner in Coburg, where it still roasts today. Three generations on, the aim has not changed. In their words: "to provide the Australian Market with a true Italian espresso coffee experience." Sourcing spans Colombia, Burundi, Kenya and Brazil, sold as blends and single origins. A family member taste tests every batch before it ships.
