While working as a barista, Kmac noticed how little diversity there was in the coffee roasting scene. So in 2017 she carved out her own space and started Floozy. It began as a tiny micro-roastery showcasing single origins, mostly filter roasts. The belief behind it: womxn and minorities deserve more recognition along the coffee value chain. It has since grown into a Newcastle family business built on diversity, fairness and transparency. Floozy works to pay farmers correctly and tracks its purchase data to keep the supply chain fair. Roasting runs on a Loring S7 Nighthalk that uses around 80% less fuel. Single Origin subscriptions start at $26 for 250g, and the HQ at 398 King St, Newcastle West is open Monday to Friday.
