Who is Cassowary Cafe?
Cassowary Cafe is owned and run by Ron Game and his wife, Steph. With retirement looming, Ron went looking for something to fill his days. Coffee roasting was his first stop. He spent 12 months learning to roast and brew. Then, instead of starting a roastery, the pair decided to do more than coffee beans and open a café together. Today they're based in Belmont, NSW. They serve coffee, specialty teas, breakfast and lunch, with nitro coffee and teas on tap. Dogs and kids are welcome. The name comes from the cassowary, which Ron and Steph call a "rare and ancient Aussie icon". They want to protect it and the Daintree Rainforest, and raise money for Rainforest Rescue. That care runs through the coffee. In their words: "We care about the journey from plant to cup and only serve unique, ethical blends."
