Altitude Coffee Roastery

Who is Altitude Coffee Roastery?

It started in 2007, in Nelson, New Zealand. Rachel and Darryl Stace were living there and were impressed by local cafés that roasted their own beans. They bought a home roaster and, in their words, "became hooked". Darryl had spent most of his working life in hospitality, so a café felt like a way to build a business around their family. They decided to make roasting the main focus of the business. After returning to the New England region in early 2008, they got to work. In November 2008, after over a year of planning and 3 months of renovating, Altitude Coffee Roastery opened in a former bakery. Today the family business roasts in Armidale, Northern NSW. The beans are served at their café on Dangar Street, sold online and supplied to wholesale clients across the region. Subscribers choose their beans, size, grind and frequency. Coffee is roasted fresh every week, with no lock-in contracts.
