Who is 9Bar Coffee?
9Bar Coffee started with people who fix espresso machines. Jason Marks and Joana Mendes run Espresso Services Plus, a husband-and-wife business. It began with machine repairs and maintenance for home and commercial coffee lovers, then moved into selling espresso machines and grinders. In 2004 they created their own blend, and 9Bar Coffee was born. In 2007, Jason patented espressoDECK, which the business describes as "the world's first recessed espresso machine." Today 9Bar Coffee is roasted on Sydney's Northern Beaches, and the business is based in Balgowlah. The range is short: the Bar Blend (six origins), an Organic Blend and a water-process Decaf from Mexico. The blends are made to be enjoyed "black or with milk", with consistency "carefully maintained over the years." Beans can be ground to order.
