Two brothers couldn't find the coffee they wanted. Everything on the shelf was "either months old and tasting like cardboard, or it was wrapped up in pretentious nonsense." So they made it themselves. By 2017 they were roasting in Port Kennedy, WA, on a Probat they named Betty, after their nan. In their words: "she does not do fancy. She does consistent." Today more than 100 businesses across WA pour or stock their coffee. The range is built on three blends, from the medium People Everyday to the dark Hyperdrive. Beans for the blends come from Brazil, Ethiopia, Colombia and Peru, and there are single origins too. "We're not the biggest roaster in Perth and we're not trying to be. We're the one that shows up." Subscribers pay $16 a 250g bag instead of $20, with no lock-in.
