Damien's coffee habit started on the railways. He spent 20 years as a railway man in the Blue Mountains of western Sydney. Sleepless nights on shift work turned a passion into an obsession. In his spare time he learned to roast from his old boss, Ian. Ian was a fellow railway worker and the founder of Blue Mountains Coffee Roasters. When the family made the big move away from Sydney, Damien brought the craft with him. Bean Addiction started in 2015 and is based in the Barossa Valley. It roasts Arabica blends, single origins and decaf, and supplies local businesses and coffee drinkers across Australia. The method is careful. Every batch gets a density check before roasting to pick the right profile. Roast data is recorded and compared against previous profiles to keep each batch consistent.
